We're on midterm break this week - which means that we have to prepare for our midterm assignment due, instead of putting together our lovely podcast that we know you, our faithful listeners, enjoy!

EP 2: Meet Out Guest!

G'Ann Hepburn is a Bahamian social commentator, women's rights activist and co-host of the Youth By Youth Talk Show series that broadcasts live from 102.9 Island FM on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am. She is a newbie in the field of Law & Criminal Justice Studies at the College of The Bahamas, as she was a former Media Journalism major. When she is not busy with schoolwork, G'Ann advocates for Black culture and Caribbean culture on her social media platforms: Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. She joins us this week to discuss "Women in Politics".

Meet the Hosts!

Kevante Cash is one of the hosts of the Dear Black Girl podcast series. She is a 20-year-old Media Journalism junior at The College of The Bahamas, aspiring to be a writer and content producer/editor. When she is not busy with schoolwork, she volunteers as a co-host on Island FM for the radio show Youth By Youth that airs Saturday mornings at 8:30 am. Because she is passionate about the topics of feminism, Black culture, women’s rights, gender based violence and gender equality, she also volunteers with the Hollaback! Bahamas team in the global movement to end street harassment via education and activism. She conducts a blog at http://curvybrownbeauty.blogspot.com that discusses such issues along with individuality and spirituality. Kevante is a spiritualist and mystic and is excited to share her voice with the world on prevalent issues that affect today’s society. 

Jameelha Missick is one of the hosts of the Dear Black Girl podcast series. She is also a 20-year-old Media Journalism junior at The College of The Bahamas. Although she is originally from the island of Grand Bahama, Jayy (as many know her) is finding her way in the City. She’s an aspiring broadcast journalist, but she enjoys writing and producing content. In her spare time, she hosts her own personal podcast on SoundCloud called "The Study Break!", a podcast targeted specifically toward college students. One day she hopes to become an overall media mogul while being absolutely fabulous… she calls it being a “Journalista.” Jayy is all about women empowerment and self motivation. She hopes to inspire other young females through avenues such as DBG and any other production she is involved with.

Ashley Whitney is a popular Bahamian beauty vlogger on YouTube with over 6K subscribers she calls her subbies. She's a videographer, photographer and editor for Three Amigos Media and a Media Journalism senior who will be graduating from COB this spring. As a proud Delta Sigma Theta Sorority member, Ashley is passionate about the issues of Black culture in the aspects of fashion and lifestyle. In this episode, the Bahama Beauty joins us to discuss The Pop Culture & Evolution of Black Hair. She gives her insights and shares her expertise on the topic, all while being her authentically whimsical self.
