Happy Saturday!
Hey beauties,
This week Monday marks the last day and final episode of our miniature podcast series, that we've created for our radio class this semester. (We know, we're bugged too!)But not to worry! Dear Black Girl has a surprise coming soon!
This Monday will also mean that we are one step closer to the finish line of the semester - 4 more weeks left! Do you feel summer in the air? Because we surely do! LOL.
On Friday, we sat down with a real phenomenal woman to discuss the issues and shortsights of "The Hookup Culture in Today's Generation". We had an awesome time in the studio, clapping back at imbedded societal ideologies and even raising questions about the feminism movement and its effects on the dynamics of relationships. We delved into how young women and men really feel about the "side chick" phenomenon and its benefits and ill-effects.
This episode is going to be hot! We can smell the tea brewing from a mile away. *squints eyes*
Want to catch the entire thing? Tune in Monday night at 9 pm! The Soundcloud link will be attached to the blog!

"The Psychology of Victim Blaming & The Dynamics of Rape Culture"
The ladies of Dear Black Girl discuss the psychology of victim blaming and the dynamics of rape culture. In this episode, we had a serious conversation with our guest, Psychologist Kavita Garakaparthi, who is such a beautiful individual inside and out. We hope that you are educated about how rape victims are affected after listening to this piece. We were definitely touched by this topic. Enjoy! Without further ado:

Monday's Inspiration
Dear Black Beauties:
It's Monday, March 7th, 2016. God has blessed you to see a brand new day - use it wisely. Take care of yourself, your mind and your body. Treat yourself with knowledge, love yourself with kindness and feed yourself with meaningful conversations. Don't waste the day worrying or trying to compete with each other because we all can win!
They marginalise us enough; should we then perpetuate this oppressive system by being hateful among ourselves?
They say we have "black crab syndrome", but I ask, who created the barrel in the first place?
We are the descendants of Kings and Queens.
Wear your tiara with grace, black girl. Let's finish where our ancestors left off.
Let's be our sister's keeper and uplift her in places where she feels low & comfort her where she feels weary. Let's be her biggest cheerleader when she succeeds, because an accomplishment for one is an accomplishment for all.
Stay flawless black girl; you are magic.
